Christmas shoppers were warned today that chicken and bacon wraps could contain shards of metal.
Meat manufacturer Greencore is recalling its ‘Chicken and Bacon Caesar Wraps’ – sold in Aldi, Co-op Food and Morrisons stores – due to safety fears.
A spokesman for the company warned: ‘If you have one, do not eat it and take it back to the store.’
The Food Standards Agency said the products could contain ‘metal fragments which could represent a safety risk‘.
A spokesman said: ‘If you have bought any of the above products, do not eat it. Instead, return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund.
‘Aldi, Co-op Food and Morrisons are displaying point of sale notices in retail stores that are selling these products.
‘These notices explain to customers why the products are being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the product.
‘No other Greencore, Aldi, Co-op or Morrisons products are known to be affected.’
The products all have best before dates of either December 21 or December 22.
Greencore’s statement said ‘As a precautionary measure, we are recalling various brands of Chicken and Bacon Caesar Wraps because they may contain metal fragments which could present a safety risk.
‘The products are manufactured by Greencore and sold in Aldi, Co-op Food and Morrisons retail stores.’
